Philippians 3:10-12
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
I feel that this biblical quote truly sums up how I perceive Lent...especially "sharing in his sufferings." Although what we give up for Lent may be miniscule in comparison for what Jesus gave up for us, it still keeps us in a certain state of mind. It keeps us from wanting that certain thing that we gave up and challenges us with those moments of temptation to give in to our own desires. So during this Holy Week, I really want to get in touch with Him through sacrifice, reflection, and service. <3
